Cllr Gardiner gave an overview of the process to
which any gratuity may be awarded to an outgoing Clerk (including the
approximate top end figure). He stated
that any gratuity is discretionary. Cllr
Scott also added some further historic information. The outgoing Clerk had been given a 6 month
paid notice period (March through to September) with the option to step down
at any time during this time. Cllr
Gardiner stressed that no gratuity figure had ever been discussed with the
outgoing Clerk. The Parish Council
felt that they had been generous with the paid notice period and were
conscious about spending further Parish funds. Cllr Cartwright had arranged for an
inscribed glass bowl to be purchased on behalf of the Parish Council and Cllr
Dibblee proposed holding a village tea party to present the gift. Clerks
Retirement (continued) It was proposed by Cllr Cartwright, not seconded,
that a bowl, plus a small gratuity be presented at a tea party – a vote
followed with the result being 6 votes against and 1 for. It was proposed by Cllr Dibblee that a tea party and
presentation with no gratuity be arranged, seconded by Cllr Erskine and
RESOLVED by 6 votes for and 1 against.
Cllr Dibblee will contact Mrs Buckland to make arrangements. |
